Reiki is a gentle yet powerful healing energy that is transmitted through the hands to one's self, or another. It is believed by many to be the way Jesus and the Buddha healed. As an ancient method of healing whose primordial roots are somewhat open to speculation, it was consciously sought after and "rediscovered" in the late 1800s by a Japanese teacher and scholar who reportedly spent many years of his life on a quest to uncover the healing method of Jesus and the Buddha. Reiki eventually made its way from Japan, in the mid-late 20th century, to the United States and the rest of the world, where it has gained not only popularity, but continues to gain credibility as a healing art.
